Development of a mesenchymal stem cell bank

In the mouse model it could be shown that co-transplanted mesenchymal stem cells induce immune tolerance and improve engraftment of stem cell transplant. The aim of this research project, which is supported by the Dr. Robert Pfleger-foundation and the German Bone Marrow Donor Center (DKMS), is to develop a master cell bank for mesenchymal stem cells under GMP-conditions. This is to provide the requirements for clinical transplant trials in patients suffering from non-malignant diseases.

The project is performed in cooperation with the DRK Blood Transfusion Service / Institute of transfusion medicine and immunohematology of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.
